In brief

What works, what to weigh

+

Strengths

4 reasons to book
  • Great value for the price — Guests mention large rooms and private bathrooms at a low nightly rate, often under 40 Euros.
  • Strong location in Schöneberg — Close to Kleistpark U-Bahn station, with cafés, restaurants, and easy access to Potsdamer Platz and Berlin's sights.
  • Spacious and comfortable rooms — Guests repeatedly note large, warm, and quiet rooms, despite some facing a main road.
  • Free Wi-Fi and on-site parking — Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, and a car park is on site. Some guests found free street parking as well.

Worth weighing

4 to weigh
  • Parking can be difficult on arrival — Although the hotel has a car park, some guests found it hard to find a spot, and street parking was crowded. One guest advised against coming by car.
  • Breakfast may not be worth the extra cost — The breakfast has a decent choice but is repetitive and lacks hot food. Some guests felt it was overpriced compared to nearby cafés.
  • The building's exterior is uninviting — The front and foyer look dingy, and the elevator is small and quirky. Some guests were initially put off.
  • Rooms can be small — At least one guest found their single room to be very small, though adequate for a short stay.

“Great value – a large room with private bathroom, not too far from central Berlin, under 40 Euros a night. Wi-Fi worked and was free (even though we were told it would cost extra). They still use real keys instead of electronic key cards – we much prefer that.”

“I'm a writer and booked a room to get away (and be across from my gym, the Apollo). It was perfect: internet in the room, a haven for focusing on my book, and outside were great cafés (especially Neues Ufer, David Bowie's old favourite), easy transport to Potsdamer Platz for the Staatsbibliothek, Sony Center, etc. There are also two 24-hour Spätkaufs a five-minute walk up Hauptstrasse if you need a drink at 2 am. Mac users: Deinmac, run by helpful English-speaking Julian Kwan, is just across the street.”

“The staff were very friendly. The hotel is in a good location, really relaxing, and the room has a nice view of the city.”

“I liked the bigger double room with the balcony; the bed (not separate) is quite comfortable for a couple. We got a reduced price and a discount on breakfast after a little bargaining. The staff are nice.”

“I liked the automated reception. A few clicks and you get a key. Cool!”
